At no stage of fake evolution. Because there is no such thing ...

The "soul" is what a person of a parallel universe might be RELATIVE to this universe. As it's matter cannot interact with our own. It needs a body made of matter from THIS universe to interact with and effectively become part of this universe.----So humans may simply be "meat drones" controlled by beings from a parallel world to let themselves be able to function in THIS one.----

Old "Spiritual philosophies" say we developed souls as we became to become "Individualized" and "split away from the "group spirit" of our species. Humans have achieved this. Some higher animals, like dogs, cats, horses and Dolphins are almost there.---As these creatures have been known to produce "Ghosts" like humans----But they still need a bit of a "push" to "individualize"---like being in a domestic situation and given a NAME. Wild animals of similar species still are part of their group souls.

Historically, the concept of soul was an invention to explain animation - the mysterious something that separates living organisms from inanimate objects. According to the theory, all living things have souls and their progeny have replicate souls, hence like begets like. The significance of the human soul is its immortality. Crossing this with evolution, the first 'soul' appeared in the first self replicating molecule.

The idea of a soul is an abstract concept. In some belief systems, there isn't just a soul, but also a spirit, like soul, an essence not a tangible verifiable thing. We deal with intangibles all the time for survival at an abstract level.

Think of it this way. The idea of a soul and/or spirit is a technology that is used to manipulate things you can't see. We actually do cross the boundary between logic and imaginary in the real world. It's a stretch of an example, but it will suffice.

We use imaginary numbers in real math for real things. An example of this boundary being crossed is the fact that i, the square root of negative 1, is consistent in its behavior. My favorite is e^(i pi) = -1. Both e and pi are real numbers, i is imaginary. Combined they create a real number, an integer in fact. In engineering we dive into the complex plane to simplify expressions in the real life 3D world using things like the Laplace transform. In a similar vein we dive into models of spirituality to conquer real seemingly intangible puzzles that can't be readily solved by direct logic. Its survival benefit is being able to solve or deal with that which seems has no real solution. In a way, it's the source of inspiration and creativity.

The soul never developed, because it doesn't exist, that's just bronze-age mythology trying to figure out where the consciousness of humans came from. Keep in mind, that at that time they thought that the emotions came from the heart, and they had no idea what the purpose of the brain was. The first time some scientists noted that the brain had something to do with consciousness was in the 1st century AD, by a Roman physician, who noted what brain injuries can do to a person's abilities.

Probably the soul comes first, like the egg, and then the human, like the chicken, comes second.

The soul is who we are inside, we are born with it. Evolution in itself is a theory that doesn’t quite fit together perfectly, but you could say through time, we have developed into creatures that are better capable of expressing our souls to each other, “evolutionary”, or not.

This is an interesting article. Maybe it was 70,000 years ago. As far as the purpose for the survival of the species, there is not one logical reason outside of a religious one.

The soul is an unfounded assertion.
