Do you think just one beef tenderloin steak makes a good dinner?
I mean a decent piece, like about half a pound.

A 1/2 pound of beef tenderloin steak is sufficient for my dinner

Sure it does. I love beef.

You need to add some sides: a few veggies or a baked potato.

Absolutely. Rare, of course.

Far too big.....

I'd take a 12 oz New York over a 8 oz filet any day. Like other answers mentioned, a steak just isn't a steak without some sort of side.

By itself, no. Tenderloin is my preferred cut but I have to have some sort of potato or pasta with it plus a vegetable or salad. For me, good eating is blending flavors. Every bite of a meal being steak spoils the experience for me.

I have eaten half pound pieces of filet mignon and I don't need nothing to go with it except maybe something to wash it down. But if I'm going to buy filet mignon I'm going to make stuff to go with it! By the way in case you've never done this. Filet mignon makes the most wonderful hamburgers you've ever tasted! Serve up a giant hamburger where the piece of filet mignon that has been run through the tenderizer not that it's already tender! You will have a real high quality steak burger that you can serve with french fries and nobody will ever forget it!

Yes with a side, maybe some saute potatoes & mushrooms.

too much meat and no trimmings.
I personally want a potato or savory rice side along with a nice salad to lighten the heaviness of the meat.

One ½ pound beef tenderloin steak does NOT make a good dinner.
As well as the steak, you need a starch, a baked or fried potato.
The "experts" keep telling me I need to eat my vegetables.
