    Not by a long shot.

One of the most famous plot twists is "Planet of the Apes" (1968), twenty seven years before "The Usual Suspects".

Then there was "Casablanca" (1942), which isn't usually considered to be a "plot twist" movie.  Rick leads Ilsa to believe he's leaving with her, but then...  Which leads to one of the most famous lines in movie history.

Citizen Kane was in 1941. I don't know if there was one earlier than that.

Of course, the idea of a plot twist goes back long before movies existed. It's the reason that Shakespeare's "Macbeth" is one of my favorite works of literature.

    Hell no.

Plot twists existed long before movies did. They were extremely common in ALL storie telling mediums.

    Ummmmmm ...

    No.

Plot twists have been around as long as plots have.

    Literally.

Oedipus Rex has one of the biggest plot twists of all time, and it was written in the mid-5th century BC.  It's been adapted for the cinema several times - including one that had William Shatner in only his second big-screen appearance.  In 1957.
