How to handle my anxiety / emotions when business throws curve balls...?


I own a Recruitment firm, I have instances where a clients (soon not to be) will attempt to save a fee by going around my back to talk to the candidate (this is called backdooring!).. yes I have terms agreed, so im covered, but they will try all kind of tactics to persuade the candidate to apply directly. My issue is handling my emotions, I find myself wanting a few large alcoholic beverages at the end the day to curb my emotions. Any suggestions or alternative methods to curb my anxiety/stress?

    I'll tell you a very simple, effective 2-step stress reduction method.

    When you're stressed, do this.

    1) Slow your breathing. This is so effective, people have a hard time believing it, which is why I like to show people the video with Dr Emma Seppala of Stanford U.

    2) Think your way through your problem. When you use the thinking part of your brain, you get control of the emotional part of your brain. This article by a therapist talks about mental habits associated with anxiety and how the therapist addresses them.
