Is Crisis on Infinite Earths the biggest/most well-known/pivotal event in DC Comics history?

Yes, as it was a major continuity reset of the DC Universe.

Fans typically use the terms Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis when talking about certain characters and stories.

And while many superheroes die and come back within a year nowadays, The Flash Barry Allen remained dead for 25+ years since The Crisis. It took another major event Final Crisis to bring him back.

I think it was Death of Superman.

Probably so, since it pushed the restart button on DC Comics history.
