why do older vintage pioneer receivers sound so much better than a newer dts receiver?

    I'm not convinced that that is the case.

    In many such cases, people hear what they want to hear.

    They don't, really, 

    but if you like something and it works, use it! 

         

    I prefer older equipment, too. Something about the way it looks...

    The only way to truly know which sounds better is a blind test where you don't know which device produces the sound, all on the same speakers.

    That said, Todays receivers are as much computer as anything else. The old ones were strictly analog.  To many, this produces a "warmer" sound.  You decide what the heck warmer is.
