Can you hunt rabbits with a .50 caliber rifle?

It would be great for close range and far range to a limit, as a .50 cal can only go about 300 yards before losing too much energy. You could take head shots with it since its so powerful.

If you like your rabbit chopped and diced before cooking then go for it.

That is tremendous overkill, when a ,22 Long Rifle is fine for rabbits.

Sure, knock yourself out. Just think 'Pink Mist' if you hit one.

Is much too large for rabbits. ,22 rimfire good for them.

A .50 caliber muzzle loader with patched round ball is useful for small game with 'light' powder load, not preffered but capable for pot hunting with 50 grains of FFF, 175 or so grain bullet .480 to 485  diameter bullet and 015 to 020 patch for ease of loading. use at 50 yards with head shots or shoulder shot if hams, rear legs acceptable .  .50 calibers using 40 to 80 grains of powder and round ball or T C maxi balls are known as good utility game guns able to use on rabbits, squirell, coyotes, deer and black bear. The wide choice of bullets, varying powder charges has made the .50 a default choice for deer and game somewhat smaller and larger. A 140 or so grain .44 pistol ball with a .030 denim patch or double patch, 50 grains of 4F priming powder is good load for up to 100 yards small/medium game , casual target shooting.

Can you - yes. But why would you? You hit a rabbit with a .50 cal. there would be no meat left to eat.

The longest recorded sniper kills are mostly with .50 BMG rounds. The thing can kill a man two MILES away.

By all means hunt rabbits with one, if it's legal. But remember that thing has a LONG range.

Sure.  Knock yourself out.  Post photos when you get back, OK?
