what’s the minimum about of time it could take?

Most people find losing any amount of weight extremely difficult. Losing just 1 pound of fat a week is challenging. With a severe diet and extreme exercise it may be possible to lose 3 pounds a week. To put it into perspective, one pound of body fat stores 3500 Calories. Walking or running one mile uses about 100 Calories.

Easy is a subjective word. How easy and how long it might take someone to lose 15 pounds depends on:
1. How overweight they are
2. What type of diet the select
3. How well they stick to their eating plan
4. The calorie deficit they reach each day
5. Whether the person is looking for fat loss or just pounds from any source.
A safe, sane, and achievable fat loss goal is 1-2 pounds per week and not more than 10 pounds per month.
A person who weighs 300 pounds and adopts a 1,500 calorie a day diet, could lose 15 pounds of waste product, retained water, fat, etc. in a week or two. A person who already eats a relatively healthy diet and is 15 pounds overweight might find it hard to drop a pound a week.
