Aside from sharing 80% of the same vocabulary, What are the differences between Malay and Indonesian?

Are they considered dialects from each other or separate languages? I'm thinking about learning Malay since I've been studying Indonesian for quite a while now.

"Bahasa Indonesia" ('Indonesian language') is just the name used in Indonesia for the local varieties of Malay.
