# Can anyone help me solve this?

So I wasn’t there when my math teacher was explaining this stuff in class but he still made me take the test anyway 😒 but anyways I failed it and now I have to correct everything but I don’t really understand this problem at all. Can anyone explain to me how to do this problem? Right now we’re learning about the Pythagorean Thereom and I don’t really see how this relates to it... but can someone help me?

It looks like a similar triangle problem: the small triangle formed by her hand has sides proportional to the big triangle formed by the tower.

3cm/63cm = 301 m / distance from her to top of tower (call it d)

Cross multiply 3d = 63 • 301 = 18963 so d = that ÷ 3 = 6321 m

It would become a Pythagorean problem if they had asked for the distance from her to the bottom of the tower but they just said to the tower which means the closest part

Ohhhh okay that makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much!!
