Why do prisons have to exist and we send people there?

  • The majority of people in US prisons are Christians, who are actually over represented in prison populations.

    So obviously prisons exist to keep dangerous Christians off the streets.

    Um, you are mistaken.  Prisons do NOT have to exist.

    But we send criminals there to keep them away from society.

    Supposedly, prison serves as a deterrent to crime, but it doesn't work too well

    Now, can you answer THIS: Why does ketchup have to exist and why do we put it on french fries?
