John Paul the Second was considered to be a prophet but a pope doesn't necessarily have the gift of prophecy.

There have been a few popes who were deemed to be prophets
but most of them have not been deemed to be prophets
nor is being a prophet a prerequisite to being elected Pope.
Certainly it is not believed
that merely by being elected Pope
the man thereby becomes a prophet.

No, he is not considered to be a prophet.

No, He is not. The first Pope, the Apostle Peter, was not a prophet, and that has not been the purpose of the papacy ever since. He is the rock upon whom the truth of Jesus Christ rests.
