For committing the horrid and wicked sin of wearing pants in public. That, and she was fighting for the independence of France, and the church, controlled by England at that time, decided she had to be gotten rid of. Assuming male attire was as good a charge as any back then.

She was the General of an invading French army in one of the series of wars (Hundred years wars) against England. They actually won that war but she was later captured by pro-English forces, put on trial, and executed.

Joan of Arc got executed because she was the enemy of England and her allies, back then the Church dictated what shall happen to the enemy and they concluded that she must be burned alive because she was a "witch".

The official reason given was that she was a heretic and blasphemer.  The real reason was that she was a threat to the power structure of both the Church and the English.  She had people following her and she was victorious in battles against the English. In order to convict her the Church placed men's clothing only in her cell so,in order to appear at her trial the men's clothing was the only thing she could wear.  The minute she stepped into the court room wearing men's clothing her fate was sealed.

she somehow managed lead the french army to victory against the english in multiple battles, despite being a teenage girl with no military experience whatsoever.  she claimed god was telling her to do this and was guaranteeing her victories. it was all a huge morale boost for the french, who before she got involved had been losing the hundred years war, really badly.  she saved france, pretty much, is what they say

well her luck eventually ran out and the english captured her.  the french king could have saved her with a ransom but he was a first class ungrateful a sshole and let the english execute her.  the english accused her of being a witch and burned her at the stake

she's about the biggest national hero france has to this day, and a saint

Because she claimed that God told her to fight for France and the church accused her of blasphemy.
