Faulty Towers was great ! Why only twelve episodes?

    Because the writers burnt themselves out and, their marriage. It was good though wasn't it J? ;-) I wasn't that old then. ;-)

    There are other examples of short seasons of British comedies."The Young Ones" (1982,1984) and "Bottom" (1991,1992,1995).

    It probably became un-PC and some liberal snowflakes were 'offended' by something in it.

  • The first series was six episodes in 1974/5.  That's all John Cleese and Connie Booth wanted to write or perform in.  The show gained a cult following and the BBC kept repeating it by popular demand.  Eventually John and Connie were persuaded to do a second series which they did in 1978/9. While the series was being recorded, they divorced which put an end to any more.

    from what i've seen of english tv, that's kind of how they do things there

    they don't take a premise and run it totally into the ground in other words, the way we do around here too often.  i like that about them. 

    well except dr who i guess.  but that works too

    it's fawlty towers btw
