why do people think hypothermia isn’t an illness just because it’s not a disease or no bacteria/viruses are involved?

Where in the dictionary does it say an illness has to be a disease or bacteria/viruses being involve because all my dictionary says is that an illness is the condition of being in poor health, and aren’t people with hypothermia in poor health making it an illness?

nobody pretends its not an illness but it's  typically very temporary nature renders it a disease of disinterest following recovery to safe body temperatures.
