When we had the big crash, the stock market was almost completely steel industry. Now it is too diversified.

To be fair there was almost another near Depression with the mortgage crash in 2007 even with Capitalism. Ignoring systemic economic problems in an economy can lead to disasters. The next one could be with student college loans.

Recessions are part of the Business Cycle.

Keynsian monetary policies are what stop them from becoming Depressions.

We would’ve had one back when Wall Street gambled all its money away on subprime real estate loans. But the government gave them socialist handouts and saved the billionaires from failure.

How do you have a depression—a contraction of wages, mass unemployment, and a devaluation of the stock market—in an economy without capitalism?

I’m not endorsing socialism or communism. Just saying that the whole concept of a depression is based on certain conditions that may arise in a capitalist economy.

Norway is ranked as the 26th most capitalist country by Heritage. That means there are 160 countries more socialist than Norway. Switzerland and New Zealand are among the top 5 most capitalist countries.
