Concerned about friend pushing himself - will it cause long term damage?

My best friend has a really strong mental and physical limit.

He runs for 10 miles a day, no matter what the weather. Snow, rain, sun. He wears slip on vans with no support, and suffers from shin splints constantly. In the sun he will wear a coat, and in winter he will wear a simple t shirt, all to build his resistance.

He suffered a swollen knuckle that lasted weeks after punching hard objects to build resistance and conditioning.

These are all things I’m not well educated on, so I don’t know how big of a concern it is. But I’m really worried about him. I’m terrified it will cause him long term damage.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
