if a collection agency had my account for a year and has not reported to the bureaus, does that mean they are less likely to sue?

and I can relax and forget about it

    No. It means damaging your credit score doesn't get them any money.

    No, do not relax yet, they have 6 years to collect the debt.

    No. It may mean that they want to wait to allow more interest to accumulate so that they can sue you for more.

    No.  It does not mean that.  It depends upon the statute of limitations for your state.  They can sue as long as they are still within that timeframe.  In other words, don’t think you won’t necessarily hear about it again.
