Why do some people think we can’t get sick from cold weather and rain?

You can get hypothermia and I’m pretty sure hypothermia is a sickness so therefore you can get sick from cold weather and rain since you can get sick with hypothermia.

People are under the misconception you can pick up the common cold/flu/strep by being out in the cold or if the weather is rainy, its complete moronic way to think! These types of sickness are spread by the spreading of germs, mainly from people NOT washing their hands or blowing their noses properly, that is HOW these colds are spread.

You are correct in a sense, if left outdoors for a certain period of time and without the adequate clothing, people can and will get hyopthermia, which is a medical condition, but its not a sickness however.

Hypothermia is not a disease. It is an INJURY caused by exposure to cold temperatures. Getting sick from a "disease" would be like having the flu or measles.

Hypothermia is not an illness. Cold does not directly make anyone sick. Germs that cause illnesses can spread faster in cold temperatures though.

But according to the dictionary a illness is a unhealthy condition and hypothermia is considered a unhealthy condition.

Hypothermia is an injury, not a sickness. No bacteria, viruses, etc are involved.
