Should my God torture atheists for eternity? ?

No, and he won't do it, anyway. Hell is never forever. Rev. 20:12-14 shows that death and hell must both be emptied and destroyed so that the resurrections and final judgment can take place. There is only finite punishment for finite sin. God's love, justice, and mercy are all intact.

Unless you consider annihilation eternal torture, God doesnt do such a thing. He rather destroys unbelievers in the lake of fire. He calls it the "second (spiritual) death."

    See "unbelieving"

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

    God just burns up sin.

He doesn't. No-one goes to Hell except those who freely choose to do so.

As we have heard no reports from the afterlife, and this has been suggested forever, perhaps it is the afterlife that needs to be questioned?

At least that would finally be evidence of his reality...

God doesn't send people to hell nor torment people in hell. People reject the atonement made for them and send themselves to hell. People are tormented in hell by fallen angels and demons.
