Why did Spain help the Patriots in the American Revolution to win the war? (make sure to tell, why?)?

They didn't, directly. They helped the French, and the French helped the Patriots. The Spanish, broadly, were willing to assist in any operation which hurt the British, but they did not want to support the Patriots, because they were fighting against their king, and the Spanish were afraid, and reasonably so, that such "democracy" could be contagious, and spread to their own colonies.

Spain entered the war on April 12, 1779, with a primary goal of capturing Gibraltar. In Central America, the defense of Guatemala was a priority for Spain. The British intended to capture the key fortress of San Fernando de Omoa and drive the Spanish from the region.
