    CH3NH2 + CH3COOCH3 <--> CH3CONHCH3 + CH3OH

    The reaction begins with a nucleophilic attack of the nitrogen on the carbonyl carbon. This forms a tetrahedral intermediate that can decompose to release the alcohol and form the amide.
