on a 1991 honda accord should the engine be running while bleeding the brakes?

No. You don't bleed brakes with the motor running.Source(s): Mitsubishi Master Tech

No. The engine does not need to be running. The battery cable isn't necessary to disconnect either as many 'instructions' and other mechanics believe. That is false. The vehicle doesn't have to be off the ground either unless it needs to be to access the bleeders on the wheels.

No. Engine should be off and key removed from ignition.
