Is there an alternative, full, or english name for "Zoty"?

I've been doing family history research and Zoty is the supposed name of my great great grandfather who is from Ukraine, though it doesn't seem like that name exists. Could there be a spelling error or perhaps a different name for this?

Thanks.

It might be a pet name. Perhaps it is a childhood name for Zoltan. It might be a spelling error or a transliteration from a Cyrillic script into the Latin alphabet. You may need the name in the Cyrillic alphabet.

Where have you searched? The person who suggested your family's documents had a good idea. Your ancestor's formal name would be on deeds or citizenship papers or tax rolls. Have you asked relatives? Have you asked about the name at a Ukrainian- American or Canadian association?

When you research your FH, you do it by researching the written records that each and every ancestor generated during their lifetine, that is the only way to do it....... so if you are name searching that is where you are going wrong
