Taking Metformin?

I have been taking my dad’s prescription metformin once every week. I read that it helps with weight loss and I’m trying to lose weight for prom. Should I stop? What can happen if I don’t?

Metformin is used in the treatment of diabetes. It can lower your blood sugar to dangerous levels since you don't have diabetes. Taking it once a week will have no noticeable effect on your weight loss, so don't take it at all.

Who told you that? I've been taking metformin for decades now and I'm fat. Hahaha!

Metformin is for type 2 diabetes. It’s not a weight loss pill.

If you’re taking his medication what is he going to do. He’s prescribed a certain number of pills so he’s not going to have enough to last him until his next prescription.
