Do you think capitalism has failed?
I understand capitalism is 100 times better
than socialism; but the idea that companies
can pay poverty wages to people with two
4-year degrees is unforgivable. Companies
left and right don't value the human-spirit.
Discuss. Your thoughts?

capitalism has failed badly
it is based solely on money and greed provided by slaves . It uses the uneducated masses to promote the idea that "everyone" can make it to the top, but unless you come from the toporiginally , few make it past poverty level. 100 times better tan socialism is a false capitalist statement because countries that practice socialism are 100 times better off the those to only allow capitalism

I tend to think it has failed, i grew up a social person i think we all are in some way or other because humans are social creatures want help when we are failing or if you living in poverty social programs are great possibly not as much in capitalistic country. not saying i am living this way but i grew up very friendly and compassionate to other people who are in the situation. If you look up what capitalism is Its where companies have free markets to sell their stuff but there can be mix where govt also can be involved in making trade laws and stuff like that then i look into pharmaceutical companies who are getting rich because of the expensive drug prices and also that some people who cant afford drugs to make them better id say thats exploitation/taking advantage of people who are ill and do not like this part of capitalism. Some people saying having all this money leads to power and power can lead to different mindset what i mean is it can change how you are thinking and interacting with people in a negative way.

Socialism is clearly better than capitalism but leaving that aside, no it hasn't failed. It's working really well keeping poor people poor and leaching money off them to rich people, which is what capitalism is for.

It's up to a democratic people to put checks and balances on capitalism so that it works for the people. They do this through their elected officials.
When Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president he told companies that if they didn't pay a living wage that he didn't want them doing business here. A combination of strong unions and government regulations and programs incentivized companies to pay workers more and offer more benefits. Because of this the middle class grew and prospered, the wealth gap was reduced and the United States was truly a great country.
Since the 1980s we have been moving more towards an unchecked and unregulated capitalism which allows the rich to carry out a form of legalized robbery against the rest of society. It's moving towards a third world model of capitalism where the top few have all the wealth and everyone else is poor.
American capitalism has degenerated into trickle up capitalism.

Has capitalism failed? That depends on what you were trying to achieve.
Capitalism has succeeded in making a few people billionnaires.
It has failed in giving everybody a decent living, and will always fail to do so.
The only reason capitalism SEEMS to "work" is that money is created all the time by people, companies and governments going deeper in debt

Nobody is forcing you to accept what a company pays. That's why people leave lower paying companies for higher paying companies. You even have the option to start your own business. Companies, like people, don't want to pay more than they have to. If someone can do the job and will accept minimum wage, then the company gets a bargain. At the same time, if nobody would flip a burger for less than a $100/hr, then the business cannot sell the hamburger for enough money to cover that expense. Capitalism hasn't failed, it's the center of freedom. The problem is for those who don't learn to play the game. People want a living wage from jobs that are not meant for a living but for students or seniors looking for some spare pocket change. If you want a living wage, you have to gain the skills that pay a living wage.

Capitalism hasn't failed. People need to make better Career decisions and pick a Major, skill, or trade that is marketable. Political Science utterly worthless. Never heard of an out of work mechanic!

companies aren't in business to 'value the human spirit'. their owners put up good money with the idea of making money. leave social services to those agencies interested in that sort of thing.

If you eliminate capitalism then who is it that is going to hire the person with two four-year degrees? There has to be a reason to risk your life savings and start a company and socialism eliminates that.

They do value it. At the price of $7.25 / hour.
