what makes images flip in pics?
I've seen this a number of times, why does it happen. left side will appear on the right...these aren't pics taken in mirrors.
I once took a pic of a cat. He has a notch in his left ear, but in the pic, its in his right.
with the cat, how come the notch is switched, but not the rest of the pic?
I look back at a lot of pics...no difference between antiflip setting be on or off.

This does not happen with real cameras. It's a setting in the phone's camera. If the flipping does not happen all the time then something (or someone) must be tripping that setting (unknowingly) before taking the shot.

This is a problem with smartphones. People are used to the way they look in the mirror, so smartphones will often flip the image horizontally by default to make the person's face look like it does in the mirror. Fortunately, you can turn this "feature" off so that the image looks correct.

Image reversal is simple --- really Too simple --- in the digital domain.
Some cheap cameras show a reversed image before the shot is taken,
but the stored image shows the correct spatial relationship.
The overall quality, or lack thereof, in the camera
could be a reason for a reversed final image.
In any case, putting it though a good photo editing program
will give you the ability to do whatever you like with it.
