Why is London Zone 1 travelcard so expensive?

What does it mean to be spending so much just to go to work?

Look at the various options on the TFL website to see if this is the best option for you.

You can also travel by bus rather than the tube on a contactless payment card (ie without buying a travelcard), which will be cheaper than a travelcard.

    Or walk... or cycle...

My advice to Londoners is find jobs closer to your home. I work at a local University as a HR Assistant and it is only 15 minute walk from my house. The money I spend on public transport I spend on days out with friends and family. I also try and find things to do around my area so I can save money on transport. TFL is a rip-off. Don’t feed it.

It is a cheaper and quicker form of transport than driving/parking....and market forces dictate price along with cost of providing transport/staffing

Very large numbers of people work in zone 1 causing a lot more wear and

    tear on the system.

Why should it be expensive to run it? Apart from staff costs?
