Why do men want to be financially stable before marriage?

Guy was saying how everything is good before marriage or during dating. I asked "why before marriage?" He said just joking. I then said "it can be good after marriage too" and then he asked "how much money do you have in your account? are you very rich?"

Men are more practical about specific needs and making a goal to work towards owning a house, maintaining a career, creating a diversified portfolio for future retirement.

Women & some girls simply haven't had the same goals in reference to urgency of owning a home, a degree towards a career....working...saving...my experience is they work but don't spend wisely and rarely save. So as a stable guy it's important to find a girl that's worked hard, saved,....so we could have financial independence in our old age. Other wise you'll be doomed by frivolous spending

Because women count on the man to be the bread winner. The man is considered the "Hunter", so when he finds his soul mate then he is mentally, financially, and spiritually ready.

Are you totally self supporting? Can you imagine being responsible to support yourself AND someone else? how about an entire household with children and a home large enough for a family? It's VERY expensive!

75% of marriages end due to money problems. Why wouldn't you want to be in a good place not only financially but emotionally and physically too. You need to be with a partner that is savvy with money that's going to tow the line if things are slow. A marriage can far better withstand the jolts of life if you can weather the storm of a long spell of unemployment or a disability. It just makes sense to be a whole person going into a lifetime commitment and part of that wholeness comes from having your sh*t together in ALL aspects of your life. Realistically you just want someone that has a good work ethic and is good with whatever money they have.

You are basing your presumption on the statement of one person.  Flawed.
