Yes, people do keep rats as pets, and for the right person they are great! They're simple to take care of, needing only a cage, bedding, a water source, and plenty of food. They are very intelligent and with handling can become as friendly as any dog or cat. Rats make excellent pets, the only drawback being their short lifespans of around two to three years.

Definitely. Rats are actually one of my favorite pets. They are super friendly and bond with people yet they don't take up a ton of space and are not super expensive.

I've kept rats for 30 years. I love them. They are the BEST rodent to keep.

Some people do, and they can be nice pets. Most people do not as rats are not well appreciated.

Yes, they make good pets for some folks. Good snacks for big pet snakes too!
