Why doesn't anyone invent a water powered automobile?

    They have experimented with hydrogen cars that run on water. They are somewhat dangerous, complicated, and way too expensive.

    There was, decades ago, The Stanley Steamer. It ran on steam. There was a firebox which heated water to create stem.

    You fueled up with a garden hose.

    I believe firewood was used in the firebox.

    They were tested found to work under the right conditions then thrown on the shelf by a richer power
