Why are plastic straws being banned?

    I had no idea about that, but it's stupid. We've been using plasitc drinking straws for over 100 years, no reason to stop now.

    So everybody can learn how it feels to be impaled by a steel straw. You miss your mouth with a bendy straw and it might hit your eye or go up your nose. Hit it with a steel straw and you could get blinded or brained.

    Environmentalists are hoping that by banning single-use plastic straws and utensils that it could be a first step in a much-needed larger behaviour change. Less than 9% of plastic is recycled while the rest ends up as landfill or in the ocean. The article below may be of interest.
