Why would my car feel like it’s getting hit softly when there’s no one around me?

Sometimes when I’m at a stop light and there’s no one around me, I’ll feel the car move like it was just hit softly- like someone tapped my car with theirs hard enough for me to feel it, but not enough to do any external damage. What could be causing this?

Transmission is acting up.  See a mechanic if it becomes a loud thud.

Is the car automatic? could be the gearbox playing up. gear in the gearbox could have teeth broken. have it checked and see if your breaks are worn to a point that they slip.

it's the gears that turns the wheels so yeah it's the gearbox . I bet it doesn't do it when you are
out of gear. when you stop at lights put the gear stick in park or neutral and see if it does it again.
