Do the capacitors in an LM386 amplifier circuit do anything with regards to its output (in terms of distortion or voltage?)?

is this about these two caps?

the 250 µF is there to remove DC content from the output, and has no effect on "distortion or voltage". Although if the value is lower, the bass response could be poor.

The 0.05 µF is for stability and is needed to prevent oscillation. It has no effect on "distortion or voltage", although if you don't use the value shown, you could have stability problems.

The 0.05 uF/10 ohm network is referred to as a "Zobel Network".  It maintains amplifier stability when driving inductive loads.

Those capacitors determine LM386 frequency band width respond and filtering. You must follow the recommended capacitance value in those capacitors but can be alternated the value not more than 20%. Incorrect capacitance or bad capacitor could affect it output performance but nothing to do with VOLTAGE !
