• The rational and irrational numbers are subsets of the real numbers. The imaginary number i is not a real number and is therefore neither rational not irrational.

Your question is similar to asking if 0.5 is even or odd. Even and odd parity only apply to the integers so it wouldn't make sense to ask if a non-integer was even or odd.
