Why did Trump say his supporters will become violent if he’s removed from office? Are his supporters really unstable or is Trump lying again?

Little Donnie has a longtime habit of making wild, hyperbolic claims that he hopes people will actually believe. Basically, he's just trying to scare people, but the fact is that no intelligent, educated person is incapable of seeing through this transparent and frankly rather juvenile and unsophisticated tactic
His supporters, now, are actually ignorant and poorly-educated enough to fall for much of his schtick, but I doubt seriously that more than a very, very tiny percentage would bother to hit the streets on his behalf. They're too fat, lazy, and brain-dead to riot, so their defenses of Trump will likely be confined to hysterical online screeds written in the basements where a large number of them dwell.
However, a few might be dumb enough to break out the hunting rifles and try to loot a few stores or something, so whether little Donnie is removed by Senate trial (highly unlikely) or on election night of 2020 (very likely), the police will need to be prepared.
Those unhappy little Trumpkins won't be too difficult to round up. They'll all be drunk and possibly even strung out on meth or something. That's the demographic so many of them belong to.

Because Mr Trumps has always had a habit of exaggerating things, and plain outright lying when it suited him. Maybe a few supporters will get out of line, but not something the police can't handle. Besides I'd say there is one chance in a hundred that the Senate will actually convict him. They'll find some way to acquit him and make it look perfectly legitimate.

That statement just shows how really ignorant he really is. Many of his supporters will not become violent.

I think what he's doing is trying to send a message to his supporters encouraging them to BECOME violent.

That may or may not have actually been what he meant. If that's what he meant, he's either lying or delusional. Trump supporters have issues, but most of them aren't THAT bad.

Who knows? Trump and his supporters are crazy. Trump is a liar though
