Hypothetically speaking, how likely can you bring drugs on a plane without it being detected when going through security?

The correct answer is to leave it at home until the laws change. Gypsyfish is correct that airport security is concerned about explosives and weapons; drugs is a secondary concern.

However, that being said if drugs is found during an inspection the matter is brought to local law enforcement for resolution. (See link.)

Again, please leave it at home. Airport screening officers have enough headaches already.

It depends on the airport. If you're in missoula Montana, they aren't gonna give two shits on drug trafficking.  If you're in Miami or LAX, you better believe they have drug sniffing dogs.  However. If you're entering a country, trafficking is a serious crime and there are like 30 countries where bringing in drugs can carry the death sentence!

Security is not the problem. They are only interested in weapons. The problem is the drug dogs, and you never know where they will be. There's really no way to conceal anything from them.
