# If 1 watt = 1 J/s then how many watts does 5 GHz generate. How does this compare with a 2000 watt microwave?

• As the others have mentioned, frequency does not translate to power.  However, if what you're really asking is how much power does a wi-fi router put out at 5 Ghz, it's about 1 watt, so 1/2000 of the microwave oven.

To be technical, low channels, 23 dBm; mid channels, 30 dBm, and high channels, 36 dBm, corresponding to 0.2 watt, 1 watt, and 4 watts.  The link below might help.

• WATT IS ENERGY UNIT, GHz IS FREQUENCY UNIT. THEY HAVE NO DIRECT RELATION. YOU ASKED HOW MANY WATT A 5 GHz ABLE TO GENERATE IS A MEANINGLESS DUMB QUESTION.

• 5 GHz is a frequency.  You could have 5 GHz at 0.001 watt, you could have 5 GHz at 10 thousand watts.

As for the "if 1 watt = 1 J/s", there no "if" about it. By definition, 1 watt = 1 J/s.
