    Given,

    Mass (m) = 5kg

    Elongation (x) = 0.37m

    Elastic constant of spring (k) = ?

    Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.81m/sec²

    We know that:-

    Force (F) = kx

    m x g = kx

    k = (mg/x) = 5kg x 9.81m/sec² / 0.37m = 132.5N/m ≈ 133N/m ∴ Elastic constant (k) = 133N/m.

    k = m*g/x = 5*9.806/0.37 = 132.5 N/m

    I think you need to rub out your name on the top of the homework and put "done entirely by Yahoo Answers".
