I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure.  What is my life expectancy?

I'm a 28 year ole African-American.  I workout at least 3x a week which is why I have a athletic build.  I changed my diet removing a lot of sodium and added potassium which did help for months.  But the pressure went back up.  Maybe its due to both sides of my family having a history with it and I got unlucky with genetics.  Only my syslotics readings are always bad.  Anyways, my doctor was scaring the crap out of me.  Can I have a normal life and life expectancy?

Hypertension is unfortunately common for black males. Work closely with your doc for the best outcome.

No, you cannot.  Didn't your physician explain that to you?
