Airforce  contract / job question. ?

Hi,

Im joining EOD (Explosive Ordinance disposal) for the USAF

Is EOD optional for 4 or 6 year contracts ?Can I do 4 years ?Or does it have to be a 6 year contract  ..considering the tech school is pretty long and how they dont have enough people in this career field Anything helps thank you

Actually it is an EIGHT year contract. Sure, you do four or six years on active duty but you then do the rest in the inactive reserve. If we have an event like 911 they can keep you on active duty for the entire eight years.

You're not going anywhere until you learn to spell it.

First of all, it is Explosive "ORDNANCE" Disposal. Ordnance & Ordinance are 2 different words with 2 different meanings. All the other techs., including your potential-instructors, will ream your @$$ for misspelling the word "ORDNANCE."

The contract for USAF EOD is a 6 years Active Duty (+ 2 years IRR).

As of Jan. 2019, the Enlistment Bonus is $30,000 (Navy EOD is paying $36,000; I just looked it up).

One advice, if you are not adamant and motivated about becoming an EOD Tech., then don't waste your time. EOD School is very tough (it will give you a lot of headaches).
