If a microwave is off does it still emit radiation?

I was wondering was the microwave carrying any radiation that stays off even still after I turn the circuit breaker off

Microwave ovens don't really use radiation in the

normal interpretation. Cell phone traffic radiates

at about 1 Gigahertz and microwaves at about 2.5

There is no physical source of energy in a

microwave oven. Heating is accomplished by

converting electrical power into something like

    radio waves.

Everything emits radiation by virtue of being at a temperature above absolute 0, but your microwave oven should not emit microwave radiation when it is off. It requires energy to generate those photons and without a power source it can't do that.

I'm sure if it are still plugged into the wall, it should give off radiation.

No, it emits electromagnetic radiation which means it needs a power source

    • It also emits infrared radiation because it has a temperature above absolute zero.
