Why were most televangelists active in the 1980s or 1990s?
Whenever I see a video of televangelists on YouTube, most of the footage looks about 20-30 years old. Were the ‘80s/‘90s some type of golden age for televangelists?

I think it went along with the proliferation of cable and satellite TV. TV's really only started to overtake radio as the dominant form of home entertainment in the 1960's, and through the 1970's you really only had a few networks. So you had a few people that were already influential like Billy Graham that got a bit of airtime. But, it wasn't until you had hundreds of channels where anyone could get their message out there that it really started to take off.
Now it is cheaper and easier for any startup to simply make internet content. There's little to no barrier for entry, so that has become the focus.

Billy Graham rose to fame in the 50s when the "Red Scare" threatened nuclear war.

Yep. That was their golden age.
And then the internet happened - filled with facts and knowledge.

Baby Boomers were in their 30s and 40s when most men and women realize they're not the center of the world, and look for forgiveness of sin, and a deeper relationship with God.

People were less informed back before the internet allowed us to research the charlatans.

Purely guessing here:
Laws were different back then. Pandering for money, fake healing, etc. The Praise The Lord Club (PTL Club) getting into massive legal trouble in the 80s. Gonna say the laws allowed such stuff to flourish back then. Also, it's just played out now. Sensibilities have changed. Those old people with their horn rimmed glasses from the Great War, gullible, and a lot racist, have all died off.
ps. The offspring of such consumers of televangelism have all migrated to political hate TV and podcasts.Source(s): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_PTL_Club

There was no internet for most of that time to expose them as frauds. Now, everybody can expose them.
Nobody can be good enough to avoid hell. The truth is that death leads to immediate heaven or hell, depending only on whether the person believed in Jesus for eternal life, or not.
The truth is that Jesus loves you and wants to bless your life freely :) Most of all, Jesus wants you with Him forever, and not in hell. The truth is that every belief except one will lead to eternal torment in the lake of fire for every person. Because nothing pays for our sins except the death and blood of Jesus, the sacrifice of Jesus that is already accomplished by Him . Jesus loves you! The truth is that Jesus is God, and Jesus died on the cross to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead. Nothing else pays for our sins, not works, not deeds, not religions. So the only way to heaven and to avoid hell, is by believing in Jesus for eternal life (John 6:47), without adding any of your own works (Romans 4:5). Believe in Jesus to take you to heaven, and you will be in heaven, no matter what, guaranteed. That easy, thanks to Jesus! Tell Jesus that you thank Him that you will be with Him in heaven when you die, because you believe in Jesus! It is too late to be saved, after death
