statistics question, please help?
Lubert wanted to know the average time it takes for odor in the men’s bathroom to dissipate after a person uses the toilet. To conduct his experiment, Lubert spent 17 hours in the men’s bathroom over the course of 2 days, until security asked him to leave. During this period, men entered the bathroom to use the toilet 114 times. About 44 percent of the men used the toilet at the same time as another man was using the toilet next to them. Lubert was not able to distinguish the odors and decided not to count the data. That left him with a total of (1-0.44)(114) = 63.84 = approx. 64 men. On average, Lubert noticed that it took 6 minutes for the smell to dissipate, with a standard deviation of 2 minutes. Can his data be used to approximate how long it takes on average for the smell to dissipate? If so, construct a 98 percent confidence interval for the population mean.
