Was this barrista/cafe cashier rude?

 No one else in line..

I clearly and politely asked for a coffee, to dine in..

She said “take away?”

I said “no, have here”

Why do they never listen!!

I didn’t want take out/take away!

Was she rude??

Update:

Yes she spoke english

Yes I was polite and clear

Update 2:

I did not want coffee to go!!!!!

She probably had a music track running through her head, and had only half her attention on her customers.  Whenever I'm around loud, contemporary music, I can't do a crossword puzzle, a Jumble puzzle, or a Sudoku puzzle without making mistakes.

Either she was on autopilot, having served a long queue just before you got there

    OR,

She knew she was being watched by her manager and is required to ask the question

    OR

She is partially deaf, (clarity of sound is no guarantee of being heard)

    OR

She was thinking about something work related and just didn’t realise you had asked to dine in

She isn't used to people asking to 'dine in' when ordering coffee. Nobody 'dines' on coffee.

No wonder she didn't understand you. Why didn't you just say 'to drink here' or 'sitting in', or whatever the standard phrase is in your country?

MAybe she just wasn't listening to you clearly. Don't get all worked about this.

These service people have to deal with a lot of stupid ignorant rude people all day long. Just relax.

If you said, "Dine in" no wonder she was confused.

Dining means eating.  You didn't order any food.

No - she wasn't rude.  She just didn't understand what you meant.

This is such a minor, trivial matter!  A normal person wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Given the noise level of most coffee shops it really is no surprise that she may not of heard you.

Careless is more apt description than rude.
