Will a fishfinder work in an aquarium?

    Yes.

    They emit a bust of ultrasonic sound waves, then stop and listen for the return.  Faint returns are small fish, big returns big fish, and then there is the return of the hard bottom.  Depending on how long it took for the return to arrive determines the depth.

    Using them in an aquarium depends on the fish.  Some don't care - others you can drive crazy with the noise.  If they cannot get away from it - it can kill some.

    you don't need a fishfinder if you have an aquarium, you can just find and murder the fish yourself.
