Is it possible to crochet a dress without the use of a pattern?

    My daughter knitted a cardigan sweater without a pattern. She had knitted and crocheted for years.  You need experience and talent.  Some people who experience at crocheting still couldn’t make their own pattern. It is a different skill set.

    Anything is possible, but it would be very heavy and probably hot.

    For people who are really good, yes.  For beginners, probably not, unless you find sleveless "tube dresses" attractive.
