Is my cat getting old?

He’s now 6 1/2 years old and I’ve noticed he’s stopped jumping counters. He’ll still sometimes jump up onto the counter though but only to get his food and when I give him his little treats in a bowl he won’t come up onto the counter he’ll meow and meow until I finally set them in the ground. Even when my other cat is around who is new and who he doesn’t like he still won’t hop onto the counter. And he’s also started eating my other cats food that I’ve placed on the ground because she’s only a kitten.

6 1/2 is still fairly young for a cat. cats can live anywhere from 12 to 20 years old  Sounds like you need to see your vet for a wellness check. He is far too young to be having age-related mobility issues and these things could have another medical cause that needs to be investigated.

    He's middle aged.

You don't see 50 year old people jumping around like kids either.
