Why do people hold their stomach when they feel nauseous?
I just always wondered that..it won't take away the nausea I wouldn't think.

Because often it is accompanied by a very bad stomach ache, and sometimes pushing on those DOES make you feel better, especially if the nausea is caused by gas in the stomach.

It's a natural instinct. Like you put your hand on your forehead when you have a headache.

nausea stems from stomach problems.
often, ailments can be "soothed" by massaging or rubbing them lightly.
when you have sore muscles, for instance, rubbing them gently soothes them.
it doesn't always work with nausea, but depending on the situation, they might just be giving visual cues to those around them that they feel sick.
