Can you become an NBA or NFL player with only a high school diploma, and no high school or college playing career?

If you were to do so, how would you go about it?

Well if you didn't play in high school or college, then you would certainly want to have some playing of the games at a level where you could get into the NBA or NFL or any sport for that matter.

Also how do you get seen?  how do you get yourself out there when you are not playing against people with the same skill?

So these are questions you need to answer.  Most players who are 'good' enough to have a career in sports, go to a school that has the most talented coaches and are big enough to draw drafters of the sport.

The other option is to video yourself playing the sport and getting it up on youtube for people to see.  If you are a pro level athlete, your videos can help provide you with feedback as well as potential drafters.

But again the key here is who are you playing with?  Just because you dominate in your sport, are you playing with 5th graders or are you playing with people that could be Pro athlete level or close enough to get you there?

You could be a "walk-on" and try out.

LeBron James, Tracy McGrady, and Kobe Bryant are some NBA players that have come straight from high school.

NFL is harder.  you wouldn't come from high school.  but maybe play in a professional level overseas for three or four years, then hope you get signed to a team.
